How To: Manage Antecedent and Consequence Settings in the District Library

District administrators, BCBAs, and principals can configure the antecedents and consequences that appear in ABC data collection across your district. Antecedents are the events or conditions immediately before a behavior occurs. Consequences are the events or conditions that follow. These settings control what options are available when teachers and BCBAs record ABC observations for any student.

Add an Antecedent or Consequence

  1. Select + Add New on either the Antecedents or Consequences tab.

  2. Enter the name of the antecedent or consequence you want to add to your district defaults.

  3. Click Save.

It will immediately appear in the dropdown menu for ABC data collection.

Edit an Antecedent or Consequence

  1. Open the ellipses menu on any antecedent or consequence card.

  2. Select Edit.

  3. Update the name, as needed.

  4. Click Save.

The change takes effect immediately and appears in all future ABC data collection dropdowns. Existing ABC records using the old name are not affected.

Archive an Antecedent or Consequence

  1. Open the ellipses menu on any antecedent or consequence card.

  2. Select Archive.

Archived items no longer appear as options when recording ABC data, but they're preserved in your library and can be reactivated later if needed.

Historical ABC data that used the archived item remains intact and searchable.

Delete an Antecedent or Consequence

  1. Open the ellipses menu on any antecedent or consequence card.

  2. Select Delete.

    • Please note, this is permanent.

A confirmation prompt will appear before deletion completes. Once deleted, the item cannot be recovered.

All historical ABC data using the deleted antecedent or consequence is preserved and remains searchable, even though the item no longer appears in dropdown menus.
