How to Access Files from the S3 Bucket (via SFTP)


Users do not access the S3 bucket directly. Access is provided via SFTP using a client such as FileZilla or WinSCP, and is typically configured by the district’s IT team.

Step 1: Install an SFTP Client

District IT or the end user can install one of the following tools:

Either tool can be used to access the files.

Step 2: Obtain SFTP Access Details (Provided by Us)

The district IT team will need the following credentials from our team:

  • SFTP Host (sftp.lifted.centralreach.com)

  • Port (typically 22)

  • Username

  • Password (or SSH key, if applicable)

These credentials are required before any connection can be made.

Step 3: Configure the SFTP Connection

Option A: Using FileZilla

  1. Open FileZilla.

  2. Enter the following at the top:

    • Host: sftp.lifted.centralreach.com

    • Username: provided username

    • Password: provided password

    • Port: 22

  3. Click Quickconnect.

  4. If prompted to trust the host key, click OK / Trust.

Option B: Using WinSCP

  1. Open WinSCP.

  2. Select New Session.

  3. Set:

    • File protocol: SFTP

    • Host name: sftp.lifted.centralreach.com

    • Port number: 22

    • Username: provided username

    • Password: provided password

  4. Click Login.

  5. Accept the host key if prompted.

Step 4: Access and Download Files

  • The remote panel shows files stored in S3 (via SFTP).

  • Navigate through folders to locate the required files.

  • To download:

    • Drag files to your local computer, or

    • Right-click → Download

Step 5: Ongoing Access & Maintenance

  • File access permissions are managed on the backend.

  • If users are added/removed, the district IT team should notify us.

  • Credentials should be stored securely and not shared.
